Job Purpose:
Weylandts Furniture Creations is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our Machine Shop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining woodworking machinery to ensure components are produced according to specification, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate woodworking machinery such as CNC routers, panel saws, edge banders, and spindle moulders.
- Read and interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate component production.
- Conduct pre-start checks, routine maintenance, and cleaning of machines.
- Monitor production output to ensure quality and consistency.
- Identify and report faults, irregularities, or safety risks immediately.
- Collaborate closely with the Draughtsman and Production teams to meet production targets and timelines.
- Uphold housekeeping and safety standards within the machine shop at all times.
Skills Required:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Machine Operator in a furniture or woodworking environment.
- Sound understanding of timber materials, furniture components, and machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Safety-conscious and able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
