REQUIREMENTS :
Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows
registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an
Oral Hygienist. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the
HPCSA as an Oral Hygienist.
Experience:
Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Oral Hygienist in respect of SA qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Oral Hygienist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Oral Hygienist in respect of SA qualified employees. Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Oral Hygienists in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience
after registration with the HPCSA as Oral Hygienist in respect of SA qualified
employees. Minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the
HPCSA as Oral Hygienists in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom
it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
Inherent requirement of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence. Willingness
to travel and provide a service across the Oral Health platform. Competencies
(knowledge/skills): Good Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and Outlook).
Good interpersonal skills and perform effectively as part of a multidisciplinary

DUTIES :
Engage in service provision to support the Dept of Health and Wellness and
University of the Western Cape public mission. Deliver oral health care through
clinical, preventive, and health-promotion services. Collaborating with health
professionals and communities and building professional networks. Provide
expert support, assistance/training to colleagues, community and patients.
Provide oral health care to vulnerable patient groups, ie. Special needs
patients. Administration duties relating to facility/patient admin within scope of
Oral Hygienist. Effective stock management.
